I am starting to get involved with this organization. I recommend them to anyone who wishes to be able to live free from prosecution from Bikram or anyone who tries to stop you from teaching due to copyright. here is there mission statement: OUR MISSION Open Source Yoga Unity (OSYU) was formed to provide a common voice, and the pooling of resources, to resist the enforcement of the copyright protection of any Yoga style thereby ensuring its continued natural unfettered practice for all to enjoy and develop. While we appreciate the teachings of yoga teachers, we do not believe that they have the legal right to impose control over another's Yoga teaching or practice. Yoga exists in the public domain. For hundreds, even thousands of years, the wisdom of yoga has evolved and grown in the hearts and minds of teachers and students. We encourage the free flow of information, including the wisdom of yoga, to all people. Joining OSYU will allow members to discuss the natural evolution of yoga techniques and practices as well as the mentality and conduct prohibiting this evolution. here is the site address. www.yogaunity.org/Please join! Together we stand, divided we fall!

The $500 cost is a little much for a semi-starving yoga teacher. Although I sure would like to see those legal documents.

Agreed. But with everything going on, $500 is pocket change for legal protection against a copyright infringement suit.
It is my belief that Bikram INC regardless if anyone signs the franchise agreement, they will start trying to sue people again. It actually say in the FDD that monies from the franchise will be used to pursue those how violate Bikram Copyrights.

Wow, just got this off the OSYU site. Looks like Bikram is threatening to sue OSYU for providing the settlement to new members. Does this sounds desperate to anyone else? yogaunity.org/learn/index.asp

I'm not sure where things stand. If I pay the $500, do I have access to the legal settlement papers? If I don't, what does my $500 get me?
